Dsquared2 SS2008 Ad Campaign

I love the concept of the shots- test-dummy area. However, I don't know if it captures the essence of Dean and Dan, the designers of Dsquared2. Their runway always reminds of a knotch above Diesel because, frankly the twins worked at Diesel before branching off. So this ad for me seems stuck between a Diesel and Dolce and Gabbana ad to me. Dsquared isn't easily identifiable if you aren't aware of the brand and its style. But the jeans are more relaxed than that of Diesel, accentuating the looseness at the hip and then tightens are it descend to the feet. The girls' clothes are normally more sexy and provocative and less conservative than Dolce & Gabbana and less whole than that of Diesel, since theirs is more like urbanwear while Dsquared is a little bit more dressed up. I just think Dsquared2 is trying hard to brand themselves and so far it still stuck between Diesel and Dolce and Gabbana. Perhaps they're content with where they are?
